Eating tofu and other soy products, including edamame, soy milk and tempeh, may lower the risk of breast cancer. A study by researchers from Vanderbilt University Medical Center found that Chinese women who had moderate levels of soy consumption had a decreased risk of breast cancer when compared to women with lower intakes. Higher levels of consumption did not increase the benefit.

Extra Virgin Olive Oil
Olive oil features prominently in the Mediterranean diet, which is associated with a decreased risk of both heart disease and cancer. A 2015 study at the University of Navarra in Spain showed a 68-percent lower risk of developing breast cancer in study participants who ate a Mediterranean-style diet with 4 tablespoons of extra virgin olive oil a day when compared to a standard low-fat diet. Drizzle olive oil over salads or bread, or use it as a cooking oil for flavorful veggies to up your olive oil intake and possibly lower your breast cancer risk.
Drinking 5 cups or more of coffee a day is associated with a lowered risk for some types of breast cancer. Enjoy your morning cup of java knowing you might be reducing your breast cancer risk.
Broccoli and other cruciferous vegetables, such as cabbage, cauliflower and kale, reduce your cancer risk with phytonutrients that stop cancer cells from forming and slow their spread. The phenols found in plums and blueberries may kill cancer cells without harming your body’s healthy tissues. Keep these colorful fruits on hand for regular snacking.
Colorful tomatoes are a rich source of the antioxidant lycopene, which may arrest cancer cell growth. Your body absorbs the lycopene from cooked tomatoes better than raw tomatoes. Add fresh tomatoes to stir fries, and stock up on tomato paste and tomato sauce to ensure your diet has an adequate supply of this helpful antioxidant.
