Austin breast cancer survivors got together to create a cookbook.

Austin, Texas, photographer Bill Bastas, who lost his wife to breast cancer, has put together a cookbook, according to Austin ABC affiliate KVUE. “Comfort Cooking: Food that Makes us Smile” compiles various recipes from breast cancer survivors. The proceeds from the book go toward transportation, food delivery and concierge care for patients receiving treatment. The publication is available for preorder and will be shipped in late November.

Bastas also started the organization The Smile Never Fades as another means of giving back. Almost $25,000 has been donated to local breast cancer survivors through the nonprofit, according to the source.

There was a recent event that served as a launch party for the cookbook. Terri Gruca, a member of the KVUE team, emceed the party. Her mother is one of the breast cancer survivors with a recipe featured in the book.

Additionally, Bastas has created other books featuring people who developed breast cancer. They cover stories about survivors and their pets, children and general reflections.

If you would like to contribute to future books, you can submit a recipe through The Smile Never Fades online form.
