Amy Robach Opens Up About How Fear and Anxiety Motivated Her Treatment DecisionsThe Breast Cancer Site
As a popular host of “Good Morning America,” Amy Robach knows that when she talks, people stop and listen. She is now using that voice to talk about breast cancer. Amy is a cancer survivor herself, who underwent a bilateral mastectomy after being diagnosed with a 2-centimeter tumor in her right breast. She recently gave a riveting keynote address at the 33rd annual Miami Breast Cancer Conference, where she criticized new U.S. Preventive Services Task Force guidelines that raise the recommended age for mammogram screening.
In this interview, Amy defends her decision to undergo a double mastectomy, despite her cancer being categorized as appearing isolated on ultrasound and other subsequent scans.
