Green Day Bassist Creates KCUF Cancer Shop

Green Day Bassist Creates KCUF Cancer Shop

According to Green Day Authority, Mike Dirnt, the bassist for popular band Green Day and his wife Brittney Cade Dirnt just launched an online store  to raise funds for the Avon Cancer Foundation. The merchandise logo, a pair of pink scissors with bat wings, hovers over the words “KCUF cancer.”  Brittney was diagnosed with breast cancer in April 2014 and is the inspiration for the line. The couple’s friend, Matt Richie, created the scissor bat design and hopes it will help to unify those who are fighting cancer and to help support others in need.

The bassist and his wife are very open about the disease, posting updates and stories of their daily struggle to their Instagram accounts (@batmansmom and @mikedossxx). Pictures include a shot of Brittney’s arm bruised from chemo and images from the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer in Boston where Brittney is surrounded by friends and family, all decked out in KCUF cancer gear. Mike even has the scissor bat design tattooed on his arm, right underneath a tattoo of Brittney’s name. The shop is entirely online and includes tees, stickers, hats, prints and bracelets. Net proceeds from the products are donated to the Avon Cancer Foundation.
