According to a 2016 study, the number of women who have had a double mastectomy has tripled in the last ten years.

When it comes to breast reconstruction, some women opt for immediate reconstruction; others may opt out, or choose to wait anywhere from a few months to years after the mastectomy.

Breast reconstruction is a huge and very personal decision to make along the breast cancer journey – and it all comes down to individual preference. In making the decision, many women are left asking an important question: “What will happen to my nipples?”
