BREAKING NEWS: Pistachios Are Being Recalled Due to Salmonella OutbreakA. Stout
Pistachio lovers, beware! Several varieties of the nut produced by Wonderful Pistachios are being recalled due to at least 11 salmonella outbreaks across nine states. That includes
- Arizona (two cases have taken place here)
- North Dakota
- Washington (two cases have taken place here)
Affected brands include
- Paramount Farms
- Trader Joe’s
This recall applies to all of North America, including Canada.
If you have any of these brands in your cupboard, look at the 13-digit lot number on the “lower back or bottom panel of the package”, and visit Wonderful’s website to see if that lot number has been recalled.
If it has, throw the nuts away. Then cut out the lot number on the packaging and either send it to Wonderful or bring it to the store where you purchased the pistachios. You will get a refund.
Salmonella is a bacteria that, upon infecting people, produces symptoms like abdominal cramps, diarrhea, and fever. Symptoms span about four to seven days.
As of March 10, nobody has died, but two people have been hospitalized.
Be sure to spread the word to anyone who eats pistachios!
