Yoga is a great workout for breast cancer patients.

Every summer, hundreds of people gather to practice yoga outside for a good cause. Yoga on the Steps is an annual event that takes participants through a yoga workout in an effort to raise money for the Living Beyond Breast Cancer organization. The Pennsylvania event took place on May 18 on the steps of the Philadelphia Museum of Art. Kansas City, Missouri, will host Yoga on the Steps on July 20, and Denver will hold its event on September 13.

Yoga on the Steps has run for 13 years now. Organizers note that yoga offers breast cancer patients numerous health benefits, such as stress reduction and relaxed physical fitness.

"This is so unique in that it's 'come and sort of be peaceful together' and relax and you really don't need any background information," Margaret Zuccotti, a breast cancer survivor and five-year Yoga on the Steps participant, told Philadelphia CBS affiliate KYW. "To stand up here in your poses and look out over the city of Philadelphia, it doesn't get much better than that."

Philadelphia participants hoped to raise $300,000 for Living Beyond Breast Cancer. The organization works to provide information and support for patients living with metastatic breast cancer, their families and caregivers.
