Scared About a Breast Cancer Test or Procedure? This Vlogger Will Tell You Exactly What It’s LikeElizabeth Nelson
Audrey is only in her 30s, so it came as a huge shock when her husband found a lump in her right breast. And, of course, it was an even bigger shock when she learned she had cancer, especially since her doctor originally thought it was just a simple cyst and she would have had to wait twelve weeks for an appointment at the breast clinic if she hadn’t called and complained. On May 4, 2016, she was diagnosed with breast cancer.
Luckily, Audrey is not the type to let cancer ruin her life. She decided to create a video blog series called Cancer With a Smile to share her experiences with others. This cathartic activity has undoubtedly helped many people deal with the stress of a recent cancer diagnosis and feel a little more prepared for what’s to come.
The video below serves as Audrey’s diagnosis story, but she also talks about the various tests and procedures she’s been through during her breast cancer journey. These include her initial appointment with a GP, an exam with an oncologist, an ultrasound, a mammogram, a biopsy, the actual diagnosis, an MRI, and the removal of a cyst preceding her lumpectomy.
If you’re going through any of these screenings or procedures in the near future or are worried that you might have to, Audrey’s experience will surely help you better understand what’s coming and calm some of your fears about what might happen at these appointments.
In this and all her videos, Audrey keeps it real and honest. She doesn’t sugarcoat anything to make viewers feel better.
And yet, with her terrific attitude and contagious smile, she reminds you that this—although scary—is not the end of the world.
As a bonus, Audrey has a soothing voice and a fantastic Scottish accent that’s sure to make any person not from Scotland smile.
If nothing else, this video will surely help your stress level, and sometimes that’s all you need. Check it out!
